Career Readiness Certification

What is a Career Readiness Certificate?

The Career Readiness Certificate is an assessment-based credential issued at four levels; Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The CRC measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations.

With a CRC, you can:

  • Build confidence that your skills meet the needs of employers
  • Show prospective employers concrete proof of the skills you have
  • Apply real-world use to coursework from the classroom
  • Determine skill improvement and training needs
  • Improve the opportunities for career changes and advancement
  • Earn college credit at many institutions and reach academic goals more quickly

Do you have a competitive edge?

Employers need employees who possess the foundational skills necessary to succeed in the workplace and earning your Arkansas Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) demonstrates to employers that you are workplace-ready.

Even if you have a GED, high school diploma, or post-secondary degree, the Arkansas CRC further verifies that you can handle tasks required for 21st-century jobs like reading instructions, working with figures, and finding information.

Whether you have a job or are job hunting, you can set yourself apart with the competitive edge of having a Career Readiness Certificate.

How can you earn a CRC?

A Career Readiness Certificate is earned by completing the three WorkKeys Assessments:

  • Applied Math
  • Workplace Documents
  • Graphic Literacy

WorkKeys is a system of assessments and curricula that build and measure essential workplace skills that can affect your job performance and increase opportunities for career changes and advancement. Contact your local Arkansas Workforce Center today to find out more!

WorkKeys Assessments are also available in Spanish:

  • Evaluación de Matemáticas Aplicadas
  • Evaluación de Localización de Información
  • Evaluación de Comprensión de Lectura

Examinees who complete the Spanish-language versions of the assessments are eligible for an ACT National Career Readiness Certificate en Español.

CRC is Recognized Coast to Coast

A CRC has always been a portable credential; however, in 2014, all Arkansas certificates, past and present, began being recorded in ACT’s national RegiSTAR™ database. The transfer of these records to this national RegiSTAR™ further validates your certificate, no matter in what state you seek employment.

RegiSTAR™ is a web-based system used for the reporting and management of National Career Readiness Certificates. RegiSTAR™ automatically sweeps the DWS test site for ACT WorkKeys® scores and registers certificates in the ACT national database.

After earning your CRC, you can easily set up an online account at myworkkeys.com that enables employers to verify your credentials quickly and conveniently. You will also want to showcase your accomplishment by including information about achieving the CRC on your resume and job applications.
