ADWS Employees Receive Patriot Award
The Arkansas Division of Workforce Services is proud to share that Angela Cook, Carl Danley, and Tanya Plunkett of the ADWS Internal Audit unit recently received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award. The Patriot Award recognizes an employer for his or her support of National Guard and Reserve members and reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide range of measures, including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
The nominations were made by Walter Zgleszewski, who is now an ADWS Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist in Hot Springs. While the awardees are no longer Walter’s supervisors, he stated, “I personally wanted to thank the ADWS Internal Audit leadership team for the support they have given to me and another member of their staff in the Arkansas National Guard. Without their support, we would have had more difficulty concentrating on our duties at hand while in uniform.”
The awards were officially presented to the nominees on December 7, 2022, by Tom Anderson, an Arkansas ESGR Volunteer and the Chairman of the Arkansas Workforce Development Board. Nominees of the Patriot Award receive a Department of Defense Certificate of Appreciation and a “Patriot” lapel pin. All members of the National Guard and Reserve are eligible to nominate their employers and can nominate them online at www.esgr.mil
