NOTICE TO CLAIMANTS FILING FOR OR RECEIVING BENEFITS |
The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 extended the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program through January 2, 2013. In addition to extending the EUC program, the Act also imposed new eligibility requirements for individuals filing new EUC Tier 1 claims or transitioning from EUC Tier 1 to EUC Tier 2. One of the most significant changes to the EUC program requires claimants filing new EUC Tier 1 claims or transitioning from EUC Tier 1 to EUC Tier 2, to report a local Department of Workforce Services (DWS) local office to complete a Reemployment Services and Reemployment Eligibility and Skills Assessment (REA). The REA consists of the following services:
Individuals affected by the new EUC eligibility requirements will be notified by mail when to report to a DWS local office for the REA. The notice to report will also require that a copy of the Job Contact Log be presented for review. To remain eligible for benefits throughout the EUC program, the REA must be completed. In addition, random audits of the Job Contact Log may be required. DWS will make every effort to complete the REA the same day an individual reports to the local Department of Workforce Services office.
